10 SEXY Songs to Set the Mood

I tried to vary this list up and add some artists that I haven’t mentioned in previous articles. As such, it’s a mixture of some heavy RnB and some more pop. Either way, there’s something for your sexy musical style in here somewhere. Unless you’re one of those people who thinks rap is sexy, I am actually one of those people, but that will have to be a different list. In the meantime, here’s this one. (Hint: click the titles for links to the songs)
This artist was very elusive after the release of her first project, “Love Train.” Her second, “Love Train 2,” came with a lot more from her, including some songs with she/her pronouns for the love interest. This song is about a post-breakup trip to London and a mysterious vixen. It’s essentially about a hot, international fling that was obviously a great way to process the end of a relationship.
I have been waiting so long for this woman to put out new music … and I’m still waiting. But, for now, she has given us two h-o-t singles and “Head High” is one of them. Featuring lines like “When she wants me she gets me direct” and “I wanna love your body, I wanna fuck your mind,” this song is a must-listen. The video is real sultry too, so watch that here.
3. Syd - Body
Syd has long been a supplier of more romantic music about women, but her first solo project, “Fin,” definitely had some sexy bangers goin’ on. “Body” sounds like the feeling of dating someone for a few weeks and it’s the first time you’re at their place late at night, drinking wine and smiling at each other a lot. It’s like finally having the “first time” with someone you’ve been having lots of hot sexual tension with. “Throw it back babe,” as she says in the song, and go listen to it like it’s Thursday.
If you ask Erica B., she’s a gangsta rapper. A lot of her music, however, is more sexy RnB. This one is kind of upbeat so I would recommend listening to it when you’re about to secure an “appointment” or you’re on the way to one. It’s essentially about how you’ve been going crazy wanting to get some from whoever has been really on your mind. “I just want your body drowning in my bed right now,” is a major mood.
Amanda Perez is an OG queer artist. Her first release in 2002 put her out on the scene and over a decade later, she gave us this dear, dear gem. Only a full-on heart throb could pull off a song like this, and clearly, she is a major one. Play this song when you’re out of town on a weekend trip and find yourself on Her, POF, Bumble, or Tinder in the late hours of the night.
In no way would I want to condone toxic relationships, so let’s focus on how the song depicts feeling addicted to someone, since that doesn’t always have to be a negative thing. This song is about being so caught up in someone that you just stop caring about anyone or anything else. And somebody always pays the price for that. You can count on the sex being mind-blowing, though.
This song goes out to all the queer women who like to seduce the straight women that are supposedly checking them out. If you see a woman at the club and she makes any amount of eye contact with you, but says nothing, this is your anthem. Go get her tiger, because this song really just wants you to fulfill all of your sexual fantasies and go after who you want, within the boundaries of consent.
I was originally going to have Siya’s song Honey Love for #8, until I remembered her much older song, “Heaven.” And when I looked at the music video on YouTube, I noticed the blurb in the description that really says it all for me:
"In a departure from her grittier topics, Siya softens her tone in the song and video "Heaven," a tribute to her Earthly desires. It's a sexy take on a chance meeting with a beautiful woman, which turns into a seductive invitation to explore their mutual attraction. Her eloquence is her aphrodisiac for the stunner struts into her carnal crosshairs. Siya's got what it takes to get what she wants, and to get where she wants to go. She's the one to watch."
Water is always a great subject for sexy songs because of the endless imagery and metaphors that it can provide. References to the “deep end” and the line “it's high tide, I gotta dive in,” really give all the right feels in this song. I would recommend listening to this track when you get the urge to put your head in between someone’s legs.
This song and the video are hot, fun, and technicolor. Pop music is nearly always about sex, but this one literally asks “Do I turn you on?” and “Do I make you wanna have sex?” This song has no shame about wanting to get you naked and is playfully direct about it. She looks right at the camera and says “If we're talking dirty, believe everything you heard.” I think you get the picture.
We have a lot more queer music to cover, so watch for more playlists coming soon. What songs am I missing? Comment any artists I need to keep on my radar for future lists!
@Britt I just took a listen and I love it. Can't believe I hadn't heard of her before! Thanks for sharing :)
